Mónica Garcia holds a degree in Choreography and Dance Performance Techniques from the Royal Dance Conservatory of Madrid and is specialized in New Media Technologies and Industries from the Open University of Catalonia. In 2004, she won the most prestigious award for dance in Spain: the Jury Award for Best Choreographer at the XVIII Madrid Choreography Competition.
Since then she has participated in numerous Spanish and European festivals. Mónica García has been actively engaged with Matarile Teatro since 2007, and has performed with Catherine Diverrés / Le Centre Chorégraphique National de Rennes et de la Bretagne, Staatstheater de Darmstadt (Germany), 10&10 company and Provisional Danza.
Concha, who plays the role of Mónica’s mother, is one of the six villagers. She had no experience in front of a camera, but she had been acting in the local theatre group for many years. Like her character, she lost her husband recently and finds herself alone in a house that is too big for her. She has considered selling but, for the moment at least, she enjoys being surrounded by the memories of a lifetime.
Ana Fernández is an awarded Spanish actress, winner of a Goya Award for Best Actress both for her role in the film Solas (1999). For this role she also won the Silver Iris in the same category at the Brussels International Film Festival. She has been nominated as Best Actress at the Goya Awards twice: for Historia de un beso (2002) and You’re the one (2000). Combining cinema, theatre performance, dubbing and television, throughout her career she has worked with directors such as Pedro Almodóvar in Talk to her (2002) and actors such as Fernando Fernán Gómez.
Elena Martín is an actress and emerging director. In 2014 she debuted as an actress starring in Les amigues de l’Àgata by Laia Alabart, Alba Cros, Laura Rius and Marta Verheyen. She recently directed Júlia Ist (winner of Biznaga de Plata for Best Film and for Best Director at Malaga Film Festival) in which she not only debuts as a director, but in which she also plays the role of the main actress.
She holds a degree in Film Studies at the Pompeu Fabra University. Living between Berlin and Barcelona, she studied Film Studies and Theatre Studies at the Free University of Berlin. As an actress, she took workshops in “Camera for Camera” at the European Theatre Institute in Berlin.
Elena is also the creator and producer of the Beckett Theatre project: ‘Els malnascuts’.
